Red Hot Chili Peppers are ready for their new album but singer Anthony Kiedis revealed how hard it is not to reveal their new songs while playing a few shows on the road.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the singer revealed how hard it is for them to write new music while on the road, as he revealed how they plan to keep the songs secret for now and playing it live wouldn't help them in any way.
He revealed how technology could potentially ruin a surprise for their fans, as they wouldn't want fans to record their performance of a new song on their mobile phones.
"The torture about doing this [show] is that we've been writing new music for the last year, and we've written some songs that I feel are as good as any songs we've ever written. We're just dying to play the new songs - but we can't, because every single human has a recording device on them at all times."
Furthermore, the singer also revealed in the interview how producer Danger Mouse gave them unique ideas for the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album.
"He's very good about coming up with super-modern ideas, but he'll also touch on the acoustic guitar in the control room and strip the song down to its acoustic essentials," Kiedis says. "Which is a beautiful place to be."
In 2014, drummer Chad Smith claimed in an interview with Rolling Stone how "different" and "unique" the new Red Hot Chili Peppers would sound like.
"And we wrote a bunch of songs that way," the drummer revealed. "And we're now going to try another method that will be really challenging for us and will bring new, exciting results for the band. We've written and recorded in a way that we've never done before, so the record is going great. We all have high hopes that it's going to take off and we're going to do something very different and unique for the Red Hot Chili Peppers."
