Anticipation over the much-awaited release date for "Pokemon GO" is reaching fever-pitch crescendo.
There have been various rumors suggesting a possible release date for the game, but so far, Niantic has not made any official announcement except hinting that its roll-out will be in 2016, according to Cross Map.
By all indications, the gaming developer has been at hard at work in order to fast track the completion of "Pokemon GO" after receiving multi-million funding from The "Pokemon" Company, Nintendo and Google.
The infusion of additional funds will certainly provide a much-needed boost to Niantic, which has been assured of more funding once it hits target dates for achieving development milestones.
"Pokemon GO," whose release date still remains under wraps, will allow players to catch, train, trade and battle a wide range of "Pokemon" characters.
Once players have installed the augmented-reality mobile game in their handsets, they will be alerted if a "Pokemon" is within the vicinity.
"Pokemon GO Plus," a Bluetooth-enabled wristwatch which has been designed to provide users a more immersive gaming experience, will be released alongside "Pokemon Go."
There have been speculations among "Pokemon" followers that the release date of "Pokemon GO" will be in February 2016 to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the highly-popular gaming franchise.
On the other hand, there are also rumors that an official confirmation on the game's release will be made next month, reported HNGN.
This information was shared by the Japanese magazine "Coro Coro," which announced in its November edition that more information on "Pokemon GO" will be revealed in its December issue.
In the meantime, as fans await the official release date of "Pokemon GO," they can sharpen their "Pokemon" knowledge and skills in what has been described as an "edutainment gym," according to Ecumenical News.
The "Pokemon" EXPO Gym features different stops and training centers, which have been designed to help upgrade the "Pokemon" catching, training and battling techniques of visitors.
Certainly, there are now more reasons for fans to watch out for the official "Pokemon GO" release date.
