While fans may have felt sad and disappointed upon knowing that "Gravity Falls" season 3 can no longer be expected, their optimism about hearing the show's creator changing his mind might still be there.
According to Movie News Guide, Alex Hirsh is "dead set" of his decision to end the Disney XD's animated TV series.
Although the show is ending and "Gravity Falls" season 3 will not be in the offing, the man behind this popular cartoon show pointed out that "'Gravity Falls' is not cancelled but is being finished instead."
"I wanted to announce this to world at large then, but I was restricted from doing so, mainly because I think a lot of people were hoping I'd change my mind," he stated in his Tumblr account while emphasizing that "even before Season 2 airs, he and his team have decided already that it will be their last season."
The report dished that a Reddit theory claimed that the show is ending because "fans have been reading too much into the episodes that they are giving too much away, which compromises the already set twists and turns of the series."
In the meantime, even without "Gravity Falls" season 3, its followers still have something to look forward to as it was disclosed that "the story of Stan, Dipper and Mabel doesn't end here."
"The chapter is closed but Disney Channel has no plans of having a full season so far but there remains to be a possibility," the report said. "There's the silver lining we are all looking for!"
On the other hand, Movie Pilot reported that the final episode of this season will be aired "sometime early in 2016," which means that "Weirdmageddon III" will air anytime during the first quarter of next year.
Do you think "Gravity Falls" will finally end with season 2, and season 3 will never be a possibility?
