Starship Entertainment Prepares For Launch Of New Idol Group Cosmic Girls

At least one new girl band will introduce themselves to K-pop fans in 2016.

Starship Entertainment will be debuting a new girl group with 12 members under the name of Cosmic Girls, reported The Korea Times over the weekend.

Starship Entertainment is looking to build on its success, having grown the girl group SISTAR into a top-tier K-Pop act.

But unlike SISTAR, Cosmic Girls is being assembled with 12 members from both Korea and China. Starship Entertainment has also agreed to co-manage the group with the Beijing-based company Yuehua Entertainment.

Starship and Yuehua are also partners in promoting UNIQ, a five-member boy band with Korean and Chinese members as well.

Aside from SISTAR and UNIQ, Starship currently manages Monsta X, Boyfriend and K. Will, among other acts.

Starship has stated previously that it is looking to leverage on Yuehua to expand its foothold in the China.

On top of adding more idol groups, Starship has made moves to include more actors in its roster through a strategic partnership with King Kong Entertainment, home to many popular actors and entertainments like Yoo Yun Suk, Kim Bum, Lee Dong Wook, and Lee Kwang Soo.

While fans are waiting for Cosmic Girls to debut, they can amuse themselves this snowy season with the annual Starship Entertainment winter single. This year's track is titled "Softly" and features the agency's top acts.
