YG Entertainment chief Yang Hyun Suk is the wealthiest celebrity in South Korea, according to Chaebol.com.
The South Korean website that tracks the country's primarily family-run conglomerates released its list of the wealthiest celebrities on Monday. The top three people on the list were all the heads of Korean entertainment agencies.
YG Entertainment's Yang, SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man, and FNC Entertainment's CEO Han Seung Ho came in the top three spots on the list.
Yang Hyun Suk was ranked at the top of the list with assets of $159 million USD. The gap between Yang and SM Entertainment's Lee Soo Man narrowed, after Yang's assets went down by 2% whereas Lee's estimated value rose by 19%.
YG Entertainment is home to Psy, Big Bang, 2NE1 and several other popular Korean acts, while SM Entertainment houses Girls' Generation, Super Junior, EXO, f(x) and more. Both companies have multiple subsidiaries and have their hands in acting, business, fashion, and cosmetics along with the K-pop industry.
Chaebol.com assessed Lee's worth near $154 million USD.
JYP Entertainment's founder Park Jin Young came in sixth place.
The list also included actor-businessman Bae Yong Joon, musical actress Ham Yeonji, actress Kyeon Mi Ri, actress-entrepreneur Go Hyun Jung, and actor Jang Dong Gun .
