Three of K-pop's biggest stars made a point in 2015 to spread their fortune to causes they care about.
JYJ - made up of members Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, and Kim Junsu - have always been big on giving, and in 2015 donated money to a variety of worthy causes.
A representative from their agency, C-JeS Entertainment, revealed on Monday, Dec. 14 that the trio recently donated 60 million KRW (approximately $50,500 USD) to theater companies and various welfare organizations this year.
During the month of August, proceeds from the group's annual fundraising drive 2015 JYJ Membership Week were donated to various welfare organizations. This year, the event included a photo exhibition which featured images of the members over the past six years.
"It was a meaningful event for both JYJ and the fans as they not only got to enjoy together, but also to do good (for the society)," said the representative, as reported by K-Pop Herald.
The group then donated 5 million KRW (approximately $4,200 USD) each to six small theater companies in South Korea to help them create better productions, a gesture that is likely close to Junsu's heart as the singer has appeared in several award-winning stage musicals in recent years.
Presently, Junsu is also participating in a special charity design project with designer Lee Joo Young. The campaign, in conjuntion with the online fundraising platform Makestar, kicked off on Dec. 15 and the money raise will benefit charter schools for underprivileged children in Cambodia.
