Hardcore band At The Drive In is scheduled to appear in an upcoming festival, which signals the band's reunion show. Now fans are eagerly waiting for a potential announcement of a new album from the group, years after they have been "in the sidelines."
According to Consequence Of Sound, At The Drive In is set to reunite at the Rock On The Range Music Festival, which will happen in May 2016.
During this show, there would also be other band that would have a reunion, which includes Disturbed and the potential announcement of a new album for Red Hot Chili Peppers and appearances from Lamb Of God, among others.
With the 2016 reunion set for ATDI, guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez revealed the possibility of a new album also being made, as he claimed that he wouldn't want to play their old songs on tour.
"When playing those songs, I thought, 'Here's a person at the time that I don't relate to anymore,'" the co-founder of the group said. "He didn't care about his life and was doing drugs and was really disconnected from the world and a whole lot of other personal stuff that I won't get into. If I give myself to that, I can feel the psychological effects of that personality in the same way that an actor can say it wasn't healthy to live in that role so long or bring that role home every night."
However, Rodriguez-Lopez stated in an NME interview how the At The Drive In reunion in 2016 may not lead to a new album since each member is doing something else as of the moment.
"We don't talk about it that way," he said. "It's there; we have possibilities. Everybody's doing something right now. Cedric has a record coming out, Tony and Jim in Sparta are doing stuff. We're just trying to feel again when the moment opens up where nothing is forced and nothing is an obligation."
