The future of girl group KARA is uncertain.
Exclusive contracts with the band's agency, DSP Media, for three out of four members - Goo Hara, Han Seungyeon, and Park Gyuri - are coming to an end in the near future.
According to multiple music industry insiders on Jan. 2, Gyuri, Seungyeon, and Hara must make their final decision on whether to resign within January. The group previously resigned contracts in Oct. 2013, over two years ago.
Although Youngji still has time left on her contract, the departure of the other three members will essentially be the end of KARA.
Industry insiders also reported that KARA has been searching for a new home agency since September, when they went on their "2015 KARASIA" concert tour. However, DSP has only responded cautiously to this news.
One insider at DSP Media informed Star News, "They are still not sure about what decision to make."
"No matter what choice they take, it is our policy to respect that decision," the insider concluded.
Previous contract renewal difficulties occurred in 2011, when three members, Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung, nearly canceled their contracts.
As DSP Media's most symbolic and most successful group, it is extremely important for the company that all members re-sign their contracts.
