Mnet's notorious rap competition program Show Me The Money will be coming back for a fifth installment this upcoming spring.
On January 6 Mnet confirmed that Show Me The Money is set to be included in the upcoming 2016 spring lineup. The show's crew are currently in planning for the show. According to a report by Sports Donga, Mnet has yet to finalize a producer for this year's season. However casting for the upcoming Show Me The Money 5 could start as early as February.
Since 2012, Show Me The Money has uncovered and highlighted many talented rappers. The last season featured well-known judges like Tablo of Epik High, Jinusean, Zico of Block B, Jay Park, and Paloalto among many others.
As for contestants, Show Me The Money has become the go-to program for many underground and idol rappers to prove themselves. iKON's Bobby took home the champion title during Show Me The Money 3 and his fellow YG Entertainment label mate Song Mino was runner up on Show Me The Money 4.
Viewers of the show, however, seem to have mixed feelings on the next season. "Season 4 was too focused on creating controversial headlines compared to 3," one user lamented according to Netizenbuzz, "I hope that season 5 keeps things clean. They need to revamp their entire production team."
"People will complain that they're tired of it but they're still going to watch," another critiqued.
Regardless of the controversies, Show Me The Money winners and competitors have earned great success after featuring in the program. We wonder who will be the next Show Me The Money star!
