Former KARA Member Goo Hara Joins KeyEast Entertainment

Following last week's disbandment of K-pop act KARA and rumors Goo Hara would change agencies, the singer-actress has signed an exclusive contract with the same company that represents top Hallyu stars like Kim Soo Hyun, Park Seo Joon, and Han Ye Seul.

On Monday, Jan. 18, chief of KeyEast's entertainment business, Yang Geun Hwan, spoke to media outlets about the young star's future under the company.

"Goo is an artist with high potential as a singer, an emcee and an actress," said Yang Geun Hwan, as reported by K-Pop Herald. "We have high expectations of her limitless potential to grow."

Yang added that the company intends to promote the 25-year-old star's activities in Korea and beyond. "We will fully support Goo in her domestic and international promotions, including Japan and China, so that she continues to work actively as a hallyu star representing Korea," he said.

Goo Hara first hit the spotlight in 2007 as a member of KARA, then made her acting debut in the 2011 SBS drama City Hunter opposite top actor Lee Min Ho.

Since then, she has appeared in a number of variety shows and as host for several large scale televised music festivals, including the most recent KBS Dream Concert.

KARA officially announced disbandment on Jan. 15 as exclusive contracts for members Gyuri, Seungyeon and Hara all expired. The band's fourth member, Heo Youngji, will remain at DSP Media where she will pursue a solo singing career.
