If you've been hanging out on K-pop Instagram or K-beauty sites, chances are you've seen Laneige's Two Tone Lip Bar. It's the sleek lip stain that packs two complementary colors in its formula instead of the typical one. You swipe it on your bottom lip and then flip it and swipe it on the top, and you've got yourself some double the trouble lips.
Miss A's Min is one of its many fans:
Its popularity has also spread beyond the Korean borders - stars like Chloe Moretz have been spotted wearing the product.
What is It?
Laneige launched their two-toned lip color following the rise of two lip trends: the lip stain, and the ombre lip. Lip stains are popular in Korea because it helps achieve a natural-looking, dewy lip color that actually stays on all day long. One problem with that lighter coverage, though, was that it was harder to achieve that layered, rich color combo that you can sometimes get with matte lipsticks and dark lip liners. Enter: Laneige Two Tone Lip Color. It gives that long-lasting, wet and rosy lip color while still allowing for a complex dual tone.
Things To Know Before Buying:
You might find this works better on naturally fuller, plumper lips. Otherwise, it's tough for the dual colors to co-exist.
Several reviewers noted that the darker shades show up on lips better than the lighter ones - some of the light shades were just too light to make much of a difference on the lip or to notice the double color effect.
Know that you might have to play around with the application a little. It will all depend on your lips, but you might need to use a small applicator or your finger to blend the colors a little so it doesn't look so harsh.
