Did iKON's G-Friend Parody Go Too Far?

iKON has come under fire for supposedly mocking rookie girl group G-Friend at their latest concert.

On Jan. 30, iKON held the first of two performances for the Seoul concert. During the show, the members put on various outfits to parody other groups' musical performances. In addition to imitating their YG Entertainment label mates Big Bang, another parody included G-Friend's "Me Gustas Tu" and had the boys of iKON sporting long wigs and cute dresses.

However, during the performance member Jinhwan was seen slipping and falling on stage. As a result, many G-Friend fans have taken this as an insult, claiming Jinhwan was mocking G-Friend member Yuju.

Back in September, a G-Friend performance of "Me Gustas Tu," where all the members were seen falling on a particularly slippery stage, went viral. Even international news and music outlets picked up on the video and commended the girls for their professionalism and composure. Because of the video's popularity, G-Friend saw a spike in interest for their song "Me Gustas Tu." Because of this, Jinhwan's fall is being assumed as deliberately mocking G-Friend.

On the other hand, fans iKON have stepped up to defend Jinhwan.

"Honestly, why would anyone parody a fall in a situation where he obviously hurt his knees and face. He's always been the clumsy type and it upset me as a fan so it makes me more upset to see people accusing him of doing it on purpose," one fan commented in a post on the Korean online forum Pann, according to Netizenbuzz.

"It looks like he just tripped and fell," another calmly asserted.

Even non-fans put in their two cents as one questioned, "if he intended to parody the fall, why would he fall so hard?"

Meanwhile, with iKON's two day Seoul concert series finished the group is now preparing for their Japanese debut.
