In a seemingly endless sea of K-pop idols, having a special talent beyond singing, dancing, or rapping is important for standing out. Wanting to become an actor after being a singer or dancer however, usually comes at the price of higher expectations.
Just ask Beyonce.
Nevertheless, there's nothing wrong with wanting to persue an acting career, perhaps explaining why WINNER's Nam Taehyun has joined the cast of Korean reality show "Actors School." Taehyun showed his passion for the art form when he shed tears while explaining why he wanted to improve his acting skills.
After being grilled by Park Shin Yang and Lee Won Jong about why he wanted to appear on "Actor's School," Taehyun explained that he was extremely disappointed with his skills in previous dramas and felt as though he let everyone down.
"I want to learn so much. I don't think I'm good enough to appear on TV yet. Even my agency had many talks with me because I want to start acting. When a chance to act came to me, I wasn't ready. I felt so guilty towards the staff, director, writer, and other actors for the drama I was in," said Taehyun (via Soompi).
Taehyun then further explained the guilt he felt once the drama series he appeared on began to receive negative criticism related to his acting.
"I don't think it's all my fault, but what became the center of criticism is my bad acting. When I started hearing harsh words that I've never heard before, that's when I realized that I wasn't ready to act yet. I don't want to hurt anyone else because of me anymore."
According to reports, Nam Taehyun previously appeared on Korean drama series "Midnight Diner" and "Midnight's Girl." The TV show "Actor's School" will follow Nam Taehyun, Jang Su Won, and Yoo Byung Jae as they complete training in acting with the show's host Park Shin Yang. The series aired its first episode on Feb. 4.
