After over a year of hiatus, WINNER finally returned with their mini album "Exit: E" and quickly achieved success with their title tracks "Baby Baby" and "Sentimental."
Now that WINNER is officially back however, fans might be wondering how they were feeling during their hiatus.
During their appearance on the most recent episode of "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook," WINNER talked a bit about their life at YG Entertainment and also performed their songs "Baby Baby" and "Empty." Specifically, WINNER explained that they felt envious toward their fellow YG Entertainment artists Big Bang and iKON, and also revealed a piece of advice given to them by G-dragon.
WINNER, who got their band name by winning Mnet's "WIN" survival show, expressed a bit of envy toward Big Bang and iKON because of their strong group names.
"Big Bang and iKON both sound strong so they have impressive names. But our team name sounds soft, so I'm envious," said group member Song Minho.
Despite the envy, according to YG-Life, WINNER appeared to be much more confident as a group when compared with their 2014 appearance on the show. This time around, WINNER was able to answer all of Yoo Hee Yeol's tough questions with ease.
Perhaps their confidence comes from dealing with YG Entertainment President Yang Hyun Suk, who the group said gave them lots of harsh criticism. In the face of that criticism, WINNER recalled advice from Big Bang's G-dragon.
"We got a lot of harsh criticism from Yang Hyun Suk. But G-dragon told us we shouldn't take it personal. If we work hard, Mr. Yang will give us recognition we deserve," said the group.
WINNER then went on to thank G-dragon for his valuable advice.
