Big Bang, 2NE1, and Girls' Generation Members Turn Heads At NYFW
New York Fashion Week (NYFW) came to an end on Thursday after several K-pop stars garnered major attention throughout the event.
2NE1's CL was the first K-pop star to garner attention, with the news that she would be part of Alexander Wang's Wang Squad for his next fashion line. She also sat front row at multiple shows in both New York and Los Angeles. CL was highlighted by Vogue as a fashion icon.
Meanwhile G-Dragon was featured alongside British musician M.I.A on Baauer's latest song, "Temples," which debuted on the Alexander Waang runway. The international collaborative track is the first to feature G-Dragon that debuted at NYFW.
Girls' Generation's Sooyoung was interviewed by W Magazine following her attendance at the Coach fashion show. Sooyoung is one of the company's brand ambassadors.
EXO and Big Bang Win Big at Gaon Chart Awards
The two K-pop boy bands received top awards at last week's Gaon Chart Awards. Each act won multiple awards. Big Bang dominated digital sales and garnered five awards, while EXO won four awards overall with EXO's Sehun winning the group a fifth award for being the top Korean star on the Chinese social media site, Weibo.
Female Stars Harassed By K-Pop Fans
Several female K-pop acts and international models became the target of anti-fans on social media. The growing trend has been primarily affecting EXO and their fanbase, with aggressive EXO fans taking to flooding the Instagram accounts of women that the group is interacting with.
Australian model Lily May Mac and members of K-pop girl groups Unicorn and 2Eyes have all been victims of aggressive fan behavior.
