MBC Apologizes For Mistakenly Saying TWICE Member Dahyun Died

A subtitle on a recent episode of MBC's variety program Real Man stated that Twice's Dahyun had died, drawing ire from viewers.

On the Feb. 21 episode of Real Man, the members were introduced one by one. When it came to Dahyun, she was filling out a registration form about her personal information when a subtitle appeared saying, "Born in 1998! Died at 19!"

The term used was "hyangnyun," which is often used when referring to someone who died after living a full life.

The producer of Real Men responded to the subtitle on Feb. 22, saying that the staff member that made that subtitle accidently mixed up the word "hyangnyun" with the word "bangnyun." "Bangnyun" is used to refer to a young girl in the prime of her life, around the age of 20.

"We apologize profusely for the mistake and will take action to ensure it does not occur again," the producer said, apologizing.

It seems like the subtitle was inserted to emphasize that Dahyun is the youngest member to ever be on Real Man: Female Soldier Edition, at age 17.

This is not the first time that Real Man has been embroiled in controversy. In the third edition of the popular Female Soldier series, viewers got up in arms over a subtitle that said a male officer's "butt was on fire."
