This week saw several returns and excitement for the K-pop world.
KCON Announces United States Dates
Last week, KCON USA revealed that the Korean pop culture festival will return to the east and west coast of the United States later this year. The con will expand to two days in New Jersey at the Prudential Center, with one more day than last year. KCON will continue with three days in Los Angeles.
KCON NY will be held on June 24-25 while the event will head to Los Angeles' Staple Center the next month on July 29-31.
Lee Hi Releases First Post-Debut Album
The YG Entertainment soloist made a splash in 2013 with her soulful debut and then took the past few years to explore her music and team up with other lablemates to form two subunits. Now Lee Hi returned with the first half of her "Seoulite" album featuring numerous collaborative tracks, including a track created by SHINee's Jonghyun.
Singles "Breathe" and "Hold My Hand" continue to do well on the South Korean music charts.
Trangender Model Choi Han Bit Debuts As Girl Group Member
Last week, we reported that a popular South Korean model debuted as a member of the girl group Mercury. Choi made headlines after appearing in "Korea's Next Top Model, Cycle 3" and got her name out there as a transgender model.
Mercury also features Hyena and Sehee. The three members all have model-like physiques. The group debuted with "Don't Stop" on Monday, an electro-dance song.
