Android As OS For Desktop Is In The Works: Reports State It Is 'Not Really Good'

Android is reportedly the most famous operating system in the world and Google is in the works in bringing the renowned OS for desktop use.

Currently, we have the Android powered watch, TV and automobile. Soon, Android will be on our desktop or laptop computers.

According to Ars Technica, a re-engineered Android system with a mouse and a keyboard might be a major change to the system, knowing that Android was initially systemized for smartphones.

Technically, an Android smartphone can be paired with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, but if not being wireless is fine for you, your phone can sport a mouse and a keyboard through a USB OTG cable and a USB hub.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that the Chrome OS and Android are merging. They stated that Chrome OS will be "folded into" Android despite of having huge involvement from both operating systems.

Reportedly, the said project of merging both operating systems for an Android for desktop version has been in the works for "roughly two years," and will be released on 2017. An early version should be available by early 2016.

Apparently, the engineers said that Chrome OS will still remain as an open source operating system but they would focus on extending Android for desktops or laptops.

"There's a ton of momentum for Chromebooks and we are very committed to Chrome OS," Hiroshi Lockheimer, the current senior vice president of Android and Chrome OS, enthused after the reported project. "I just bought two for my kids for schoolwork!"

Currently, Google is working on a split-screen multi-tasking feature for the Pixel C. it might not be a desktop PC but the Pixel C is a 32 GB Android tablet that could do some serious work for you.

According to Tech Crunch, Android could be a far superior operating system compared to Chrome OS but the latter still relies to Google's browser, which is the browser with the most users.

However, reports have surfaced that Google will still need a little push and third-party developers if it wants to make Android a usable operating system for desktop.
