BTS Breaks K-Pop Records For U.S. Billboard 200 Chart Ranking And Album Sales

Bangtan Sonyeondan, popularly known as BTS, is soaring high with its 'Wings' album as it breaks all previous K-Pop records on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart.

The famous Korean boy group's second album debuted at number 26 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart earning 16,000 units by the end of October 13th, according to Nielsen Music. From this total, 11,000 were reported to come from traditional album sales or physical sales.

These figures marked the best record week in the history of a K-Pop album. Korean girl group 2NE1 of YG Entertainment recently held the highest rank for a K-Pop group with their album 'Crush', which debuted at No. 26 back in 2014. This was followed by SM Entertainment's EXO boy group logging its best sales record for their 2015 'Exodus' album selling 6,000 units in its first week.

Currently, BTW is the very first Korean pop act to have three entries on the U.S. Billboard 200. This consists of their 'The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2' EP that debuted at No. 171 back in December 2015; plus their 'The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever' compilation album appearing at No. 107 in May.

The Korean boy band tied for having two entries on the Billboard chart with Big Bang's G-Dragon previously.

Since their June 2013 debut, BTS has captured the Korean pop music industry for their music, which focuses more on societal and social issues. And now their 'Wings' album is taking their dedication a notch higher by looking into more intricate issues in a young adult's life such as mental health, the harshness of K-pop idol industry, and women empowerment.

And it looks like BTS is not just stopping at the U.S. Billboard charts as its 'Wings' album claimed the No.1 place for five weeks now on the World Albums chart as the longest reign of a Korean pop group. Additionally, all the songs in their latest album debuted on the World Digital Songs chart with their title track 'Blood Sweat & Tears' at No.1, the second first place song of the group.

BTS is definitely breaking records here and there! Check their 'Blood Sweat & Tears' MV below!
