Latest update about Taeyeon and Wiz Khalifa feud over 2016 MAMA performance

Wiz Khalifa's rant over his failed duet performance with Taeyeon on the 2016 Mnet Asia Music Award in Hong Kong has subsided. Taeyeon explained the reason for cancellation, but things become more confusing.

American rapper Wiz was scheduled to perform with Taeyeon, main singer of Girls' Generation in the 2016 Mnet Asia Music Award (MAMA) in Hong Kong on Friday night, December 2. Wiz highly expected to perform with her as they have rehearsed for the event. However, suddenly on the night of the performance, Taeyeon decided to cancel their performance.

Following their failed collaborative performance, Wiz who was disappointed rant through his tweet as reported by KPop Herald. In the series tweet, he said his confusion with Taeyeon's decision to suddenly cancel their collaboration on the performance night.

Taeyeon explained her reason to cancel the live performance as reported by Seoul Daily News. She said there was an audio problem for the performance, so she decided to cancel her stage appearance. The 27-year old singer posted an explanation on his Instagram page, but later she removed the post.

However, things become more confusing. There are many speculations regarding the real reason for the cancellation. One of the speculations is that the event organizer MNet did not want the performance to take place, so they persuade her to cancel her joint performance with Wiz.

Another speculation related to the marketing issue. Taeyeon's stage performance with Wiz would not promote her new album, 11:11, so her marketing team decided to cancel the performance and to make her perform solo. Taeyeon did perform on 2016 MAMA on separate stage from Wiz. She sang her first single as solo artist “Rain.”
