Actor Jung Il-Woo decided to continue his military service despite a cerebral aneurysm. He is now in the basic military training camp. After the mandatory four weeks basic training, he will be assigned to civil service.
His cerebral anneurysm was revealed by the end of November during the physical examination for mandatory military conscription. His agency HB Entertainment announced his condition in the official press release on Nov. 30 as reported by Chosun Ilbo.
His condition was the side effect of the injury after a car accident in 2006. He suffered a concussion in the accident and cerebral hemorrhage and partial memory loss. Subsequently he often had a chronic headache for three years. and after a thorough examination the doctor diagnosed cerebral aneurysm disorder in his brain.
The condition will allow him to be exempted from the military conscription if he apply for re-examination before his due time to report for duty on Dec. 8. However, he decided to continue his patriotic service in spite of his condition. He is now joining the basic military training according to report from Korea Times.
After the four weeks mandatory training, he will be assigned in a civil service because of his physical condition.
Cerebral anneurysm is the weakening of the blood vessel in the brain that enlarged and filled with blood. Most people who suffer a trauma or injury to the head such as what happened to Jung may lead to the cerebral anneurysm. Other causes are high blood pressure, infection, tumors, cigarette smoking, and drug abuse.
Jung Il-Woo’s latest project before joining the military service was a romantic drama “Cinderella and Four Knights” aired on tvN from August to October 2016. Afterward the 29-year old actor prepared himself for the military conscription service.
