It seems that Starship Entertainment is opening more doors this 2017 as King Kong Entertainment merged with them into one entertainment agency.
Just this January 2, the two entertainment agencies are officially merged as one entertainment according to All Kpop. On May 20 last year, Starship Entertainment acquired 100 percent of King Kong Entertainment's shares.
As stated in Soompi's article, Starship Entertainment bought King Kong Entertainment in its pursuit to expand their offerings in the Asian market as King Kong Entertainment is one of the best acting agency in South Korea.
King Kong Entertainment is the home of some of South Korea's finest actors and actresses including Yoo Yeon Seok of "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim", Lee Dong Wook of "Goblin", Lee Kwang Soo of "Running Man", and Kim Ji Won of "Descendants of the Sun".
Despite being merged into one as Starship Entertainment, it was stated that King Kong Entertainment will still maintain its management but will help in the marketing and business ventures of Starship Entertainment in the Asian region. With this, Starship Entertainment's Kim Si Dae and King Kong Entertainment's Lee Jin Sung will be working together as the two CEOs of the new and merged Starship Entertainment.
Before buying the shares of King Kong Entertainment, Starship Entertainment had a mutual contract with another agency, Yuehwa Entertainment, to have a growing market in China. Yuehwa Entertainment is known not only in housing idol groups like UNIQ but also in producing movies, dramas, and being home to Chinese actors and actresses.
As Starship Entertainment grows into a bigger and stronger entertainment not just in South Korea but also in neighboring shores, more and more projects will soon be open for its homegrown talents such as SISTAR, K.Will, Boyfriend, Monsta X, and Cosmic Girls among others.
Kpop Starz wishes for the success of the brand new Starship Entertainment. Fighting!
