“Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” delivered a touching and heartwarming story in the seventh week of airing. Bok-Joo achieved her target to become national athlete for Korea. While the drama itself received much more interest from international audience rather than Korean audience.
In Episode 15, Bok-Joo is selected to join national team, and she enter the Korean national team training facility in Taerung. She will begin to practice for World Championship in China. According to official release from the MBC, the episode reveal the dream come true for Bok-Joo to become the member of Korean national team.
The episode 15 also revealed short meeting between Joon-Hyung and his mother whom he never met for 10 years. Seoul Daily News took note of the recurring childhood trauma which he suffered when his mother left him to Canada when he was a little boy and never give any news.
At first, he was happy to see her. But he hurt as soon as he heart that her mother came to Korea to sell her land and borrow money from her brother, Joon-Young’s uncle. It is because her daughter, Joon-Young’s step sister need to have surgery for a rare disease.
Joon-Young was upset but Bok-Joo is able to calm him down and make him to see the situation from other perspective. Bok-Joo makes him to come to his senses, that his mother come to Korea to find solution for his step sister first, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him. When his mom return to Canada, Joon-Young finds her at the airport and thank her for giving birth to him.
“Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” will have the final episode on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 10:00 p.m. KST (GMT+9). Although the drama is not successful in Korea commercially, but there are many international fans who love the drama.
