'Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim' Ended Strong With High Ratings

The top medical drama of 2016 and early 2017, "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim", has finally ended with its 20th episode last Monday and with a special prequel episode last Tuesday. Both episodes gained the highest ratings in the Monday-Tuesday evening timeslot.

According to a report released by Soompi, the said medical drama garnered a whopping 27 percent viewership during its prequel episode last January 17 which featured a cameo appearance by top actress Kim Hye Soo. AGB Nielsen also recorded that the finale last January 16 received an astounding 27.6 percent which amounts to around 6 million people watching it real time.

These statistics aren't new to the producers of "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim". Dramabeans wrote that the said drama has consistently maintained an increasing viewership ratings as it unfolds its story every week. Its Christmas episode which featured the iconic 'necklace kiss' that garnered Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok the "Best Kiss Award" in 2016 SBS Drama Awards also recorded a 26 percent rating on both TNmS Ratings and AGB Nielsen.

Aside from leading the Monday-Tuesday evening slot for the entire run of the medical drama, "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" also received several distinctions such as in the aforementioned 2016 SBS Drama Awards where it received 8 awards which swept almost all of the awards in the genre category. As if it's not enough, the show also garnered the prestigious "Daesang" for Han Suk Kyu's performance as Teacher Kim.

Indeed, the show left a good mark in the history of Korean TV. Even celebrities such as Park Shin Hye and Lee Kwang Soo showed their support all throughout the medical drama for its exemplary plot and the outstanding acting by its actors and actresses. Their support were mostly shown through their respective SNS accounts and even through sending coffee and food trucks on the set of "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim".
