Accusers of Park Yoochun Filed an Appeal After They were Sentenced to Imprisonment for Defamation and Blackmail

Park Yoochun won his cases against a woman known as Ms. Lee and two other cohorts. The court sentenced the singer's accusers to prison terms last week after they were found guilty of defamation and extortion.

According to Yonhap News, the judge at the Seoul Central District Court did not find any evidence to pin Park to the alleged sexual assault on Ms. Lee. She claimed that the singer raped her in the restroom of a bar they were in, but the judge said that Lee could have shouted or made noise if she was being maltreated, yet she did not do anything at all.

The woman was also seen laughing and talking with the waiters of the bar right after the singer and his friends left, so it is hard to believe that she was raped. Now, Yoochun countersued and all three defendants (Lee, her boyfriend and cousin) were found guilty of trying to extort money from him, The Huffington Post KR reported.

They were also charged of defaming the singer/actor by tagging him as a rapist. Their false accusation damaged Yoochun's name and the judge deemed this offense as something severe, hence he handed down the right punishment of imprisonment.

Lee was given two years jail term while her cousin was sentenced to two years and six months. The boyfriend was only given a year and a half time in jail because he had the least participation in the case.

Chosun reported that the defendants are now trying to appeal their sentences and they each filed their own appeal, separately, from Jan. 19 to 23. They will try to reverse the decision or seek for lighter sentence for their offenses.

Park Yoochun was accused of rape in June 2016. The woman who filed the case, Ms. Lee, later withdrew the charge and admitted that it was a consensual sex. Her boyfriend and cousin tried to collect money from the singer and his agency, C-JeS Entertainment, via blackmail but Yoochun sued them for this.
