"High School Rapper" producer finally released an official statement to address the recent controversy of its contestant, Yang Hong Won. This is the second time for "High School Rapper" to breed a controversial contestant.
The statement started with staff's explanation that stated Yang Hong Won has admitted and is deeply regretting his wrongdoings in his past. According to Allkpop, the staff also expressed Yang Hong Won's good intention to leave all his past behind and begin to nurture his dream to become a rapper. The statement was concluded with an apology to viewers and hope that Yang Hong Won would be welcomed to continue his hard work in the show.
Yang Hong Won made his first appearance in "High School Rapper" on February 17. He then caught a lot of attentions from viewers and mentors. He was even chosen to be the top representative in his area.
However, not everyone approved. Since Yong Hong Won performed at the show, rumors regarding his past started surfacing online.
Soompi reported people on the internet started posting Hong Won's photos in his past with a remark read: "Yang Hong Won, a contestant of "High School Rapper", is a well-known bully in Songpa-gu?" Another person even added the allegation by revealing that Yang Hong Won once stole his relative's bicycle and the "High School Rapper" contestant was abusive towards the relative whose bicycle was stolen.
Yang Hong Won's dark secret is revealed even further when somebody said that the contestant also involved in under aged drinking and smoking. Lucky for Yang Hong Won, the producer has given him a second chance to prove himself worthy, unlike the previous contestant who has got to go since his past was revealed.
Jan Yong Joon, another talented contestant who appeared on the first episode of "High School Rapper", had to leave the show because he once engaged to indecent behaviors. Jang Yong Joon has written an apology letter to state his regret before resigning from the show.
