Park Bo Gum dominated the list of Forbes Korea's "Top 40 Power Celebrities." He was followed by a close friend, Song Joong Ki.
Park Bo Gum has been acting since 2010 but only had his breakthrough in 2015 when he became part of "Reply 1988." He achieved his mainstream success when he starred in the KBS drama "Moonlight Drawn By Clouds."
On the other hand, Song Joong Ki rose to stardom when his drama "Descendants of the Sun" concluded. The series break record ratings and was recognized not just in Asia but in other parts of the globe.
The Forbes Korea Power Celebrity is a list published annually by Forbes magazine since 2010. This year's Power 40 is heavily dominated by people from the entertainment industry.
The Top 10 consisted of actors, actresses, girl groups, boy bands, and singers. Still, the list contains personalities from other professions such as athletes and a chef.
The rest of the Top 10, other than Park Bo Gum and Song Joong-ki are as follows: TWICE, EXO, BTS, Suzy, Song Hye Kyo, Kim Yoo Jung, Jo Jung Suk, and Oh Seung-Hwan. The list was published on JoongAng Ilbo.
The rankings were based on the individuals' professional achievements, popularity, influence, and earnings of the past year. They considered the personalities' frequency of media exposure and sales.
Park Bo Gum's leading lady for "Chinatown" Kim Go Eun also made it on the list. She was placed 36th while her "Goblin" co-star Gong Yoo was on the 27th.
AllKpop claimed it was noticeable that the idol group EXO went down to fourth place after being first in back to back years for 2015 and 2016. Kim Yuna, a figure skater is now on the 29th spot. She was the first ever personality to top the list. According to Soompi, she is especially remarkable because she is consistently on the list since 2010.
