NCT's Jaehyun has found himself at the center of controversy after a leaker claimed he was the "toxic ex-boyfriend" referenced in BLACKPINK Rosé's recent album, Rosie.
Over the weekend, an alleged YG employee leaked videos showing BLACKPINK's performances during their trainee period. In addition, the employee revealed that Jaehyun was the toxic ex-boyfriend that Rosé was referring to in her track "toxic till the end," which she admitted was inspired by her own experiences.
"Rosie's toxic ex is Jaehyun," the leaker claimed.
It is worth noting that the former employee previously leaked "evidence" that fellow BLACKPINK member Jennie was dating BTS's V.
Neither Jaehyun nor Rosé have publicly commented on the leaker's claim. However, some fans have taken to the NCT member's Instagram page to leave negative comments following the allegations.
"Give Rosé back her Tiffany rings, boy," one commenter wrote.
"You broke Rosé's heart?" another one said.
And this is why it’s never “just a joke” because at the end of the day it’s jaehyun who ends up getting hate directly… and it’s nctzens themselves who constantly spread these rumours and people end up taking it seriously and lash out at him when he isn’t even an active idol 🫤 pic.twitter.com/8nITV6GH2X

Rosé has never confirmed who the subject of her song is. Fans, however, have been relentless in trying to uncover the identity of her ex-boyfriend. Other names, such as Jaden Smith and Jason Cho, have been linked to these rumors.
Jaehyun's involvement in these speculations dates back years due to fan "shipping" and coincidental links between their music. For instance, Jaehyun's 2024 album included a track titled "Roses," which some interpreted as a nod to Rosé. Rumors that they dated were further fueled after Jaehyun performed his rendition of the BLACKPINK idol's global hit song "A.P.T."
Despite these theories, no concrete evidence has ever confirmed a romantic relationship between the two idols, and both have remained silent on the matter.
Meanwhile, Jaehyun is expected to complete his military service in May 2026, while Rosé continues to focus on her solo career following the massive success of Rosie and is also preparing for the comeback of BLACKPINK.
