Sejeong and Mina are perhaps the two shining stars of rookie group Gugudan. Besides promoting with the group, former I.O.I members also make enormous income with their respective individual promotions. Sejeong and Mina can do whatever they want with their individual earnings, but they decided to share their incomes with Gugudan instead.
According to a report from Allkpop, a representative from Gugudan's agency, Jellyfish Entertainment reveals that Kang Mina and Kim Sejeong have been sharing their individual incomes with the other Gugudan's members. Both of the idols' parents are the ones that encouraged them to do so. Kim Sejeong reportedly has been in 10 commercials, which obviously make her the only Gugudan member with the highest income. Kang Mina also gained a pretty decent amount of income from her solo activities.
It turns out that each member of Gugudan has also been sharing their earnings to pay off the group's debt. Soompi reported back in January, Kim Sejeong participated in a quiz "1 Vs. 100" where she competed against 100 competitors to win 50 million Won. During the show, she was asked what she wanted to do if she won the prize, in which Sejeong answered that she's going to share some of the prizes to pay Gugudan's remaining debt and save the other part to buy a house.
K-Pop groups, especially the rookie ones, are familiar with debt in their early period of the debut. The company reportedly paid all the trainee expenses from foods, shelter, to promotional activities. All of the group's incomes were usually kept by the company until the group has paid the debt. Until then, each member must struggle to find another source of income to make a living as well as bail their group out of the debt.
Meanwhile, Gugudan is set to be the third host of "SNL Korea" on April 8. Sejeong and Mina previously had made an appearance in the show with their former group, I.O.I.
