BIGBANG T.O.P's First Trial Date Confirmed, Will the Star Wake Up by Then?

The Seoul Central Court has set the first trial date for the drug case of BIGBANG rapper T.O.P. who was found positive for the use of marijuana during a recent drug test conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The trial date has been set for June 29 but it remains unsure if T.O.P. would have recovered by then.

According to a report by All Kpop, BIGBANG's T.O.P. will be required to appear in court to make a statement regarding the charges. However, the BIGBANG rapper is currently in the intensive care unit and is yet to regain consciousness after reportedly ingesting a huge amount of anti-anxiety drug benzodiazepine.

Doctors at Ehwa University Hospital yesterday held a press conference to shed light on the conflicting reports about T.O.P's condition and said that the BIGBANG rapper is still in a critical state after suffering from hypoxia and high levels of carbon dioxide due to respiratory failure when he was rushed to the hospital. Doctors said that T.O.P is still unconscious and is being closely monitored at the intensive care unit to monitor his breathing and other functions.

According to the summary of the medical briefing posted by YG United, T.O.P's doctors are working closely with neurology and psychiatry departments for the BIGBANG member's treatment. T.O.P. currently only responds to very very strong stimuli, and even when the medical staff try to wake him up, he is unable to maintain a state of consciousness.

Doctors said that there is a possibility that T.O.P would wake up within a week's time barring any complications based on similar cases but maintained that his current condition is much more serious than a deep sleep like some earlier reports suggested. It is also possible that he may require psychiatric treatment when he regains consciousness, explained the experts.

BIGBANG T.O.P, who was enlisted in the military and was serving as a member of the band unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency when a female trainee caught in a marijuana case said that the YG artist did marijuana with her. Drug tests performed on T.O.P's hair follicle yielded positive results and the BIGBANG member subsequently admitted to doing marijuana last year before his enlistment. T.O.P was dismissed by his police unit early this week while the case has been forwarded to the prosecutor's office for deliberation, Kpopstarz reported.
