B.A.P Gets The Party Going With Their High Energy Performances In Singapore

After a sensational visit last year, the Best, Absolute, Perfect (B.A.P) boys from TS Entertainment returns to our sunny island as part of their 2017 World Tour 'Party Baby' to party with all Singapore BABYz (B.A.P's fans)!

Debuted in 2012, the group which consists of Yongguk, Himchan, Daehyun, Youngjae, Jongup and Zelo started their musical career with their EP Warrior which charted on the Top 10 Billboard World Album. Since then, the group has received numerous awards, both in Korea and internationally.

Hot on the heels of the release of their sixth single album "Rose", in March this year, this comeback was particularly memorable for fans as leader Yongguk returned from a 4-month hiatus to join the group for promotions.

The show held at the MasterCard Grand Theatre @ Marina Bay Sands started with a loud bang as guest DJ B-Shoo set the party mood going with a 15-minute long strong-beat dance music. The Strobe Lights that were placed strategically on the stage facing the audience, turned the performance theatre into a dance-club atmosphere with the loud music thumping in the background.

The 6 lads appeared following the warm-up session with more heart pounding renditions of "Hurricane" and "Badman", both hits from their 2013 6th EP, "Badman". Right from their debut, the group had succeeded with their "tough, bad boy image", which was specifically set out to differentiate themselves from the "pretty-boy" male idol archetype prevalent in the K-pop music industry. The strong-beat fast tempo set with heavy raps from the guys, are most ideal to be played in a dance club, putting the speakers to their ultimate use. At times, the music is so loud, that it camouflages the boys' singing, much to the dismay of the audience.

Armed with a translator, the boys managed to make good connections with the more than 1,000 shouting fans present in the theatre. Some Singaporean slangs such as like "shiok" "alamak" "walao eh" were used sparingly by the boys to bring them even closer to their audience. At times, the boys will speak in English, as when Daehyun cooed "all my BABYz, (you're) so adorable, so steady, so hot..." to further entice the crowd.

The temperature was raised when a fan was picked to sit with the boys on-stage for a short chit-chat session. The lucky lady also received a couple's toast with Daehyun (usually performed in a wedding ceremony where the bride and groom drink with their arms intertwined), to loud cheers from the jealous fans.

It is only during their solo segment or slower-paced songs such as "Dancing in the Rain" where one gets to appreciate the singing skills of the boys. Each can hold his own tune, even harmonize beautifully when they sang the melodious 'Fermata". Unfortunately such clear voices are soon overshadowed by the loud hip hop music which are featured more prominently throughout the performance.

Singapore BABYz were amongst the earliest group to witness the sextet's performance of their brand new single "Wake Me Up" before the 6 mischievous lads returned to stage with a high powered encore medley of their dance tracks.

Although the end of this show also marked the end of B.A.P's Party Baby tour, the group assured their fans of their continuous presence when Himchan announced "We're going to release a new album; we think it sounds good, but we don't know how you will think about it. Please wait patiently for our new album."

Youngjae concluded the talk with "we're really blessed that we have a long history with all of you. Thank you for waiting for us and we're gonna eat chilli crab tomorrow. See you next time and please anticipate our new album" before launching in the last song of the night, "B.A.B.Y".

The boys are currently preparing hard for the release of their 7th single album 'Blue' on September 5.
