If you're looking for the perfect K-drama to watch as you welcome the warm spring season, Netflix has got you covered with its newest Korean original series, "My First First Love."
Unveiled last April 18, The eight-episode drama boasts a star-studded cast headed by Ji Soo, B1A4's Jinyoung, and DIA's Chaeyeon. Choi Ri and Kang Tae-oh completes the roster of the main cast.
Ji Soo -- known for his roles on "Strong Woman Do Bong-soon," "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," and "Bad Guys 2" -- is playing the role of Yun Tae-o. Because of different circumstances, a group of his friends moved to his house and from there, a charming story of love and friendship unexpectedly unfolds.
One of Tae-o's friends is Song-i (played by Chaeyeon), who later became his love interest. The conflict, however, comes as Song-i develops feelings for Do-hyeon (played by Jinyoung) who is his college best friend.
In a Netflix event held in Singapore in November 2018, the 25-year-old actor shared that although the mini-series is "about young and rather clumsy love revolving around people in their 20s," it still offers "a heartwarming story that audiences in any group can relate to."
While the romantic storyline of "My First First Love" has viewers reminiscing about their own first-love stories, other scenes successfully deliver a heavy dose of student-life nostalgia. From indulging in a TV marathon to musing about their complicated lives, the drama makes for a time machine that will take the audience back to their memorable youth.
"My First First Love" is based on the 2015 web drama "Because It's The First Time," which starred SHINEE's Choi Minho, Park So-dam, and Kim Min-jae.
Ending on a cliff-hanging note, the Netflix offering has earned much anticipation from fans who are already forward for the sophomore season.
The series, directed by Oh Jin-seok and written by Kim Min-seo, is a pre-produced project. It has been previously revealed that the crew had actually filmed a total of 16 episodes. This news has prompted more speculations for Season 2, though Netflix is yet to confirm.
"My First First Love" marks the second time that the video-streaming company has produced and invested on an original Korean drama series. The show's predecessor was the zombie-themed period drama "Kingdom" starring Ju Ji-hoon, Bae Doo-na and Yu Seung-ryong. Earlier in March, Netflix released teaser photos, giving a sneak peek of the show's second season.
