Joo Won's agency Hwayi Brothers has recently confirmed that the award-winning K-pop actor has been offered the lead role in an SBS drama titled "Hotel Alice."
The company clarified that though nothing is confirmed yet, the actor is thoroughly reviewing the small screen project. If he accepts, he will play the role of a detective named Park Jin Kyum.
The 32-year-old actor-singer was last seen in the TV series adaptation of the hit Korean film, "My Sassy Girl." Infused with a historical twist, the period drama also co-starred Oh Yeon Seo.
Joo Won was discharged from the military earlier in February. During his 21 months of service, he served as an assistant instructor in the White Skull unit.
When he was discharged, the Hallyu star revealed that he has received a lot of fan letters. "I really missed my fans," he shared, adding that he also missed "acting in a great drama."
As for his stint in the military, he said: "I've finished my military service, which could be seen as long or short depending on how you look at it. It was a meaningful time full of new experiences, and everyone took care of me like family. Thanks to them, I was really happy."
Joo Won is just one of the hotly-anticipated actors who is set to return to K-dramaland after finishing their mandatory military service. His fellow actors Lee Min Ho and Ji Chang Wook, however, have already confirmed their small-screen comebacks.
Joo Won first debuted in the 2006 musical "Alta Boys." His breakthrough role was in his first ever TV drama series, "Baker King, Kim Tak Goo."
Since then, he has starred in several hit series, including the Japanese-regime drama "Bridal Mask," the medical drama "Good Doctor," and the medical-action offering, "Yong Pal."
As for his film appearances, he is most notable for his role in "Steal My Heart," "Fashion King," and "Fatal Intuition."
He has also received several accolades including the "Most Influential Asian" award during the 2nd Asian Influence Awards Oriental Ceremony.
