Fans of Netflix's Korean series "My First First Love" won't have to wait too long for the show's sophomore season.
The coming-of-age drama will return on the streaming platform giant on July 26 -- exactly a hundred days since Season 1 premiered on April 18. The big reveal was announced by the main actors -- Ji Soo, Jung Chaeyeon, B1A4's Jinyoung, Choi Ri, and Kang Tae-Oh -- through a video uploaded on Netflix's social media pages.
Though more details are yet to be announced, director Oh Jin Seon has previously noted that "the seeds of youth sown in the first season will gradually develop."
In the eight-episode maiden edition, each nearly one hour long, the viewers were introduced to an adorable group of friends who -- due to different circumstances -- have started living in one house. One of the main storylines of the series is the love-triangle relationship among Ji Soo (who plays Yoon Tae Oh), Chaeyeon (Han Song Yi), and Jinyoung (Seo Do Hyun)
After a cliff-hanging ending, fans now await how the story will unravel as Chaeyeon becomes torn between her boyfriend, the role of Jinyoung, and her childhood friend, the role of Ji Soo.
"My First First Love" is based on the hit web series, "Because It's The First Time," which aired back in 2015. It starred SHINEE's Choi Minho, Park So-dam, and Kim Min-jae.
The pre-produced project was previously reported to have 16 episodes. With Season 1 only containing the first half, fans have been heavily speculating that the rest will be shown through a second season run.
The youth drama serves marked the second time that Netflix produced an exclusively-broadcasted, original Korean drama series -- the first one being the zombie-slash-period drama "Kingdom" top-billed by Hallyu star Ju Ji Hoon.
In an attempt to intensify its appeal to Korean audiences and tap the country's widely-followed drama content, the video streaming platform has also partnered with several Korean broadcasting networks. Apart from broadcasting, a slate of K-dramas are available for viewing on Netflix, including "Arthdal Chronicles," "Abyss," and "One Spring Night." Upcoming titles include Shin Min Ah's drama comeback, "Chief of Staff."
In a statement, Netflix Korea's director of international originals Kim Min Young remarked: "Netflix started adding Korean titles three years ago and we've seen how that has attracted new audiences who are discovering the Netflix viewing experience for their K-drama viewing."
