Lovelyz’s Kei to Debut as Solo Artist + Drops 1st Teaser

Kei's management agency Woollim Entertainment announced through its official Twitter that the female idol is set to launch her first mini-album called "Over and Over." Along with the announcement is a photo of what seems to be the album cover with the title placed above with her real name Kim Ji Yeon written under it with the words "1st mini-album." The image has a collage of Kei's pictures at the center.

"Over and Over" will be out on October 8 at 6 p.m. KST, which marks Kei's solo debut after five years since entering the K-Pop scene as a Lovelyz member.

Ji Yeon officially debuted as the main vocal of Lovelyz in November 2014 with the album "Girls' Invasion" with the title track "Candy Jelly Love." The group's debut album was well-received by the public that it took the No. 9 spot on Taiwan's Five Music Korea-Japan weekly chart and ranked first on Japan's Tower Records albums chart.

Lovelyz's latest release is their sixth extended play titled "Once Upon a Time" consisting of the lead single "Beautiful Days," which was launched this past May 20. The group is currently participating in the Mnet survival show "Queendom" together with other female artists.

Besides group activities, Kei has also participated in singing original soundtracks for dramas, some of which are "Love Is Like That" for "Oh My Venus," "Tingle" for "Lucky Romance," and "These Days You and I" for "Queen of Mystery 2." She also released collaboration songs, like the collaborative single called "Y" in September 2016 with MyunDo featuring Bumzu. That same year, she revealed the track "Beautiful" featuring The Solutions in October.

Also in 2016, Ji Yeon competed on JTBC's main vocalist competition, Girl Spirit, together with eleven more girl group vocalists. Ji Yeon made it to the finals as one of the Top 5 singers but failed to bring home the bacon. Kei was even starred in a web series, "Matching! Boys Archery Club" in the same year, which marks her acting debut. She took the female lead role of Hong Shi Ah, a girl who dreams of becoming a webtoon artist.

Furthermore, Kei has partaken in hosting shows like Music Bank and Inkigayo along with other artists. She even appeared on different shows like Running Man, Hello Counselor, After School Club, Knowing Bros, and more.

Best of luck to Lovelyz's Kei for her solo debut!
