YG Entertainment has announced in an official press conference today, November 8, that CL will no longer renew her contract with them. YGE said, "CL and our company have agreed to terminate the contract with respect to each other's opinions. We would like to express our gratefulness to the fans who have loved and supported CL since her debut with YGE."

CL launched her career with 2NE1 in 2009 under YGE and has since been well-know as a leader and rapper. She had started trends not just in music but also in the fashion industry. She was also the first Korean female artist to make it in "The Billboard Hot 100" chart in Japan. After 2NE1 disbanded in 2016, CL focused on her solo career.

The following is the official statement of YG Entertainment:

"CL and our company have agreed to terminate the contract with respect to each other's opinions. We would like to express our gratefulness to the fans who have loved and supported CL since her debut with YGE.

CL was with us since she started as a member of 2NE1 in 2009. She became well-known as a leader and rapper, leading trends not just in music but also in the fashion industry. She also made history for being the first Korean female artist to be included in the "Billboard Hot 100" om October 2016.

We ask for your continued love and support for CL's new activities. YGE will also support her with unchanging trust and affection. Thank you."
