Reports about the return of the first-generation K-pop group emerged. Media outlets cited that Sechskies will be coming back either before 2019 ends or in early 2020. Some industry sources even noted that the boy band has already finished filming the music video of their new album.
When asked whether the news is real or not, one YG Entertainment representative stated, "Yes, it is true. At this very moment, the members are making a lot of preparation for their first comeback as a quartet. However, the release date when the new album will be released has not been decided yet."
The group's long-awaited appearance in the music industry is said to be their way to thank the fans who have been continuously giving their love and support to the members throughout the years. And speaking of fans, Yellowkies (Sechskies' fandom) can't wait for the idols' new album. Some of them even hoped that the public wouldn't hate the artists and go mentioning their ages.
Furthermore, their anticipated return marks not only their first after two years but also the first with only four members. Sechskies' current members are Eun Ji Won, Lee Jai Jin, Kim Jae Duck, and Jang Su Won. Earlier this year, Kang Sung Hoon announced that he has withdrawn from the group and ended his contract on December 31, 2018, and eventually left YG Entertainment.
Ko Ji Yong, on the other hand, was taken out from Sechskies' profile by the company in May 2018 following the request of the fans. The fans disapproved Ko Ji Yong's actions of using the fans and Sechskies in promoting his own company.
Sechskies made their debut in April 1997 with their first track titled "School Anthem," which is also called "School Byeolgok." It is part of their debut album "School Anthem," named after the single, which was out in May that same year. Months following their debut, Sechskies quickly received several awards. The group's fanbase rapidly grew the next year, and their released songs were a big success.
In May 2000, the boy band shocked everyone with their sudden disbandment despite their rising popularity. Six years later, Sechskies reunited through a concert and even signed a contract with YG Entertainment in May. "Three Words" was the band's first release under YG and after such a long time. The boys even debuted in Japan in May 2017.
And now, Sechskies will be back to impress the people once again with their undying talents.
