In a recent video by JustKiddingNews where the f(x) member Amber is a part of, the crew tackled the viral video of a black man getting arrested by white cops for eating a sandwich at a train station in California. The members gave their two cents about this issue, and Amber's comment upset a lot of fans online.
The viral video showed how the black man was getting handcuffed by one police officer before calling his colleagues for their help in arresting him. Then, Amber said that he "deserved" to be detained for being disrespectful.
"I think he just f*cking deserved it 'cause I think he's super disrespectful, like, you don't have to act like that towards the police officer. Still, show some type of respect. Know your right, but still show some type of respect," she said.
Meanwhile, Joe Jitsukawa stated that this issue is sensitive to the black community. "Yeah, but that's going to a touchy area because I think, culturally we don't understand what the black community goes through, so they respond way different to officers than we do," he commented.
Shortly after the uproar, Amber released her apology message through her Twitter account, along with the caption "I am sorry."
"I am so sorry. I saw a video clip, made an ignorant, snap judgment, and I majorly messed up. It was my fault for not being more aware of how the systemic racism in the United States has continued and gotten worse while I spent the last 10 years overseas," she continued.
"I 100% do na stand for racism and discrimination. It angers me that he was singled out because of the color of his skin. It is completely unjust and I am so sorry for not seeing the whole situation and jumping to a conclusion. I am sorry for hurting you guys," she added.
Amber went on and stated that she has always stood for equality and that she believes in "#BlackLivesMatter". She then added another apology that her ignorant remark negatively affected a lot of people.
Amber swears she will continue to educate herself.
Back to the viral video, some claimed that it was against the law if you eat at the platform of the train station. However, what also frustrated the black community was that the black man was singled out despite the other passengers who were also eating there around that time. In the video, the black man can be heard telling the cop that he eats a sandwich there every day.
As a result of Amber's insensitive comment, stans have "canceled" her and called her supporter of police brutality against the black community.
