BLACKPINK is scheduled to return with a new album next year! Shortly after the news emerged, the band's agency YG Entertainment released an official statement regarding BLACKPINK's anticipated return.
The label said, "There's no definite date yet but for sure it will be on 2020. At this moment, the BLACKPINK members are doing recordings for the new songs of their upcoming album." "We will still talk about the specific schedule. We ask for your generous understanding."
BLACKPINK's 2020 return will be their first since their latest release "Kill This Love" that was out last April of this year. After its launch, BLINKs (BLACKPINK's fans) have been waiting for new songs from Rose, Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie, especially the solo tracks of Rose, Lisa, and Jisoo. It has been a year since Jennie made his solo debut with "Solo," and fans have been clamoring for the singles of the remaining three members.
In spite of the long-waiting stage between the group's album releases, BLACKPINK continued to shine in different parts of the world. Following the issue of "Kill This Love," BLACKPINK set foot on the stage of Coachella. They didn't just impress the audience with their impressive numbers; they also made history. Jisoo, Lisa, Rose, and Jennie performed as the very first K-pop female group to be at the Indio, California festival. The group's stage also marked their United States debut.
In addition to their Coachella performance, BLACKPINK was also busy with their world tour "In Your Area" that kicked off in November 2018 in Seoul. The band has completed their tour's encore last July of this year in Bangkok that was held for three days. The girls will resume their "In Your Area" tour in December, starting with Tokyo, then in January next year will be in Osaka and Fukuoka.
Apart from their successful shows, BLACKPINK has also won several awards this year, both domestically and internationally. In Korea, they won the "Song of the Year," "Digital Bonsang," and "Cosmopolitan Artist" awards with "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du." And earlier this month, they also earned one of the trophies at V Live Awards V HEARTBEAT.
Meanwhile, in international, BLACKPINK was able to take home the awards for "K-Pop Female Group," "International Music Video of the Year," "Boom Video of the Year," and "Collaboration of the Year," thanks to their singles "Kill This Love" and "Kiss and Make Up." They even got the "Best in Music" at Shorty Awards, and "Choice Song: Group" at Teen Choice Awards with "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du."
Furthermore, BLACKPINK was announced as the winner for all three categories at E! People's Choice Awards: The Music Video of 2019, The Group of 2019, and The Concert Tour of 2019.
On top of that, BLACKPINK members have also modeled for several magazines like Rose and Lisa for Dazed Korea, Lisa, and Jisoo for Harper's BAZAAR Thailand Magazine, Jisoo and Jennie for Elle Korea Magazine, and many more! BLACKPINK's Lisa was even announced as the new celebrity endorser of Penshoppe.
