On the morning of December 8th, TWICE arrived at the Gimpo Internation Airport. The group just finished their tour activities in Japan and were still obviously tired. As usual, fans were waiting at the airport for the group's arrival. However, the situation quickly escalated when everyone started walking towards the group. It became overcrowded and as everyone was attempting to take pictures, TWICE's member Jihyo tripped over a fan and has fallen on the floor.
Later that afternoon, JYP released an official statement regarding the airport incident saying:
"Good day! I am a representative from JYP Entertainment.
Today, there was an unfortunate incident at the Gimpo International Airport which led to one of our artists getting hurt. It was because of disorderly and excessive attempts to take photos.
We follow a certain protocol and have released a list of blacklist rules which includes the prohibition of following the artists at the airport after immigration procedures. The engagement in such acts will ban the fans from participating in several activities including TV Broadcasts. Please see TWICE Blacklist Rules for details.
If this incident happens again, we will take legal action. We are letting everyone know that we have already asked out legal representatives to take steps if another issue similar to this comes up.
It is not only our artist's safety but also everyone's safety that we are concerned about. If we allow fans to behave like this and follow our artists even in their unofficial activities, everyone's safety will be at risk. We ask you to please follow an orderly manner during official appearances/activities and refrain from committing prohibited behaviors.
As a company that treats our artists with concern and like family, we are always aware when situations like these come up. As long as it is within the scope of the law, we will not think twice to take legal actions.
We will do our best to protect our artists. That is our utmost priority as an agency.
Thank you so much."
Meanwhile, Starship Entertainment has also warned fans about inappropriate behavior during the group's WJSN appearance in "Music Bank."
