"Who's who? Who Am I? Where Am I?" Tao laughed his heart out when a group of girls in France mistaken him as a member of another group, which is BTS.
During the filming for one of the Chinese variety show, "The Protectors," the staff, crew, and guests flew away to France, and while shooting a scene, Tao, together with other team noticed some foreigner girl looking at them.
Huang Zitao, who is popularly known as Tao, offer them to take a photo, and the girls immediately grabbed their phone to make one and posed closer with Tao along with a "finger hearts."
Meanwhile, the young girls noticed that Tao looks like someone. The former K-pop idol then anticipates if the girls know him, and finally, one of the girls took her courage to ask Tao if he's a member of one of the most popular K-pop groups worldwide, Bangtan Sonyeondan or BTS.
She said, "You look like..uhm..a member of BTS?" He asked the girls again if what did they say, and when he processed it, he denied it. "No, I am not BTS," Tao said.
Then one of the girls, wearing a black sweatshirt, added, "But.. you look like a member of BTS." "Oh, Really?" Tao asked, and answered by the girl while pointing to her other friend by, "Yes, She's a big fan."
He then thanked the girls and asked them if they know EXO, and claimed, "I am an EXO member before." The big fan of BTS exclaimed, "Wow." And it seems like they do recognize the group, as followed by their waves of laughter.
After thanking the girls again, they bid their goodbyes and went to their separate ways. Shortly after the separation, Tao jokingly asked the cameraman to edit out that scene, Pointing out to the staffs and crew, he said,
"Cut it out. That part that I look like a BTS member." He then expressed his disbelief that the girls claimed that he is a BTS member.
Then as they continue their taping, Tao shared with the other celebrities accompanying him that the group that the girls mentioned weren't as popular during the time that he was still part of the group EXO.
He then suddenly apologized for being mistakenly recognized as a BTS member.
After the snippet of the videos circulates online, netizens and fans' reactions and opinions were divided. But overall, the agenda of Tao to bring fun was successful as netizens think that the event was hilarious.
However, some fans, especially Exo-l, felt emotional as they were touched on how Tao mentions EXO and proving to the world how great of an impact EXO imprint to the K-pop and the Entertainment Industry. EXO-l expressed their happiness through various social media outlets, saying how thankful they are to Tao, who still remembers EXO and his former life as a K-pop Idol.
