BLACKPINK is one of the most popular Korean pop idol groups both locally and internationally, their most recent song Kill This Love ranked 41st and 24th on Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200, respectively, making them the highest-charting Korean girl group since 2019.
The group is signed under YG Entertainment and debuted back on August 8, 2016, and they have four members namely, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. All the girls have their strengths and roles that they play in supporting and leading the group to success.
However, today we'll be focusing, specifically, on Jisoo and Rosé and the top 3 reasons on why they both deserve more recognition from their fans and casual listeners alike!
1. Visuals Queens
Both Jisoo and Rosé were chosen as endorsement models and brand ambassadors for Kiss Me, which is a South Korean cosmetics brand, in September of 2018. They were also mentioned in TC Candler's The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2019 along with the other members of Blackpink, Jisoo ranked 78th while Rosé is the 66th out of a hundred winners of different races and ages.
All four members were mentioned again in another visual ranking, this time around its TCCAsia's Most Beautiful Faces in Asia 2019, they ranked higher with Jisoo landing on the 22nd place, and Rosé placed nine ranks higher than her at number 13. These accomplishments give the girls recognition and confirm the superiority of their visuals among other artists.
2. Acting Prodigy Kim Jisoo
Jisoo was exposed as a public figure a little earlier than the debut of Blackpink, and she also appeared in a few MVs of her co-label mates. She acted for EPIK HIGH's song Spoiler + Happy Ending, and she showed an emotional performance of the tragic progression of their relationship ending. She was also featured working in Hi Suhyun's song I'm Different featuring Bobby from IKON rapping. In the music video, Jisoo and Bobby were a couple.
In 2015, she made her acting debut with a cameo on the KBS2 drama Producers , and many sources reported her appearance in 2019 to drama Arthdal Chronicles, which was only 14 seconds long.
3. Roseanne Park's Vocal Artistry
Rosé has been a trainee at YG Entertainment since 2012; however before her debut, her voice was already featured in one of G-Dragon's songs titled Without You, which means she already has experience with her singing, the song ranked very high in multiple Korean song charts.
After her debut, she also participated in music-related television programmes, such as King of Masked Singers and Fantastic Duo 2, her performance in the former was talked about by the general public of Korea for her and rendered positive feedback from the audience and hosts alike. Rosé vocal style and colour have been praised by various artists stating that it's unique yet unmistakably recognizable. Korean singer, Gummy said her voice is the type of sound young people love in response to her performance in Fantastic Duo 2.
A Filipina critic, Almita Blancada stated in an article that Rosé voice stands out from all the other idol singers due to her unique singing style, she also said that the listener "would know it's Rosé singing in a heartbeat." The Korean music industry acknowledges the singer's vocal range for its distinct vocal timbre among other things.
