Following Jay Park's recent controversy about his post regarding Big Bang last month, the Korean-American artist is facing another issue following his tweets involving the famous K-pop group BTS and the award-winning director of the movie "Parasite" Bong Jun-ho.
The issue started when the former K-pop idol and currently American artist posted in his personal Tweeter account this tweet last 13th of February, "There isn't an artist as versatile as me…. that is all." His post then gained attention from K-pop fans, including ARMY and other fandoms, throwing negative feedbacks about his statement, which sounds offending for the other artists.
K-pop fans are then clowning Jay Park for his tweet and commenting on different groups, which are also versatile, giving evidence that he is not the "only" artist who is versatile. After his tweet got noticed by several fans, he then posted another statement, confused, as he wrote, "Ayyyy, when did I get so poppin' on twitter."
However, the tension got more intense when a follow-up tweet was uploaded, commenting about BTS fans and how the group listened to his song. "Ok, I am seeing BTS fans feeling some type of way. What BTS has done is historic. Breaking all types of records, it is crazy and inspiring to see. Plus, they live-streamed listening to my song, Yacht" when it came out so extra cool points for that."
Netizens' opinions are then divided into different sides, wherein other netizens were taking Jay Park's statement as respectful and correct, while some were not happy for mentioning BTS and their fans. In addition to this, the rapper-singer also talks about his recent interview with "Sway in the Morning" show, explaining his side, where it also caused tension between the fandom and his fans.
"When it comes to hip hop, though, K-pop does not have the most authentic image, and that is just the truth. So me to make things happen in that field and also being Asian, I've come across some difficulties, and that was my point in the interview." This is also after his statement about how Western people see him as "K-pop," the reason why some are sleeping on his music, for they think that his songs will sound like BTS.
Furthermore, other netizens expressed their disbelief to Jay Park, commenting, "BTS and Bong Joon Ho is staying humble." But then, Jay Park ended the feud with his statement saying, "What BTS has done for Kpop, what Jay Park has done for K-hip-hop, what Bong Joon Ho has done for the Korean film, all are historic nonetheless."
Lastly, Jay Park is unbothered with the haters, as he concluded his thread with the thought of mentioning every k-pop band in his post before his comeback to gain lots of attention. "Also, next time my album comes out, I am mentioning every k-pop band in the book. This making me super Poppin."
