According to the National Tax Service of Korea IU has been in the list of South Korea's most diligent citizens by honestly paying her taxes on time and updating her tax reports that is why she is about to receive the Presidential Award to be handed out by the President himself.
Ji-Eun Lee popularly known by her stage name IU is one of the highest-earning artists in South Korea. It has been reported that IU's net worth is $15million USD as of 2020.
Although it's an award that needs to be handed in person as for South Korea's tradition, IU accepted the award with gratitude but politely refused to attend the ceremony due to the COVID-19 that killed thousands of lives in the country.
The awarding ceremony's attendees will most likely be reduced and there is a probability that the event will be canceled due to the catastrophe that hit South Korea this year.
On the other hand, IU chose to self-quarantine herself after visiting Milan, Italy. Even if the Idol is not showing any possible symptoms of the virus, she decided not to attend any events and canceled all her schedules for the meantime.
Aside from IU, other celebrities such as Lee Seo Jin and Gray have also been in the list of exemplary taxpayers of South Korea. These artists are chosen based on the amount of tax they have handed out in the government along with the charity donations they made.
Almost 1072 people are listed as excellent taxpayers but only 32 people are chosen to receive the presidential award. Due to the health concerns, the ceremony was called off to avoid the possible transmission of the COVID-19 virus. It has been decided that the awards will be delivered to its respectful owners.
Out of 17 people, IU and Lee Seo Jin are about to receive their Presidential awards.

Aside from this, She also provided the anti-contamination suits and masks that will help the health staff to combat COVID-19.
"Since IU debuted as a singer in 2008, she never failed to perform her responsibilities and obligations as a citizen of South Korea. She has contributed huge sums to the government and gained a lot of awards such as Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards, Korean National Assembly Awards and Popular Music Awards, which is successfully taking part in stimulating pop culture and cultivating Hallyu," South Korea's Tax Service declared.
Aside from IU who donated a large amount of money to help aid the virus in South Korea, Artists Lee Seo Jin and Gray have also lawfully contributed to the government and donated money to the charities to help those who are affected by the virus.
