Jang Hyun-seung Officially Discharged From The Military

Jang Hyun-seung has officially signed off from his mandatory military service!

On Friday, March 13, the singer uploaded an image of himself on his Instagram account while saluting to the camera. He wrote in his caption, "2018.07.24-2020.03.13." These numbers represent the exact duration of his enlistment date up to his discharge date. He ended his caption with a "Thank You" remark.

Jan Hyun-seung announced his enlistment on July 12, 2018. His agency, Cube Entertainment, confirmed this, along with the statement:

"Jang Hyun-seung will be officially enlisting on July 24 as an active-duty soldier. However, Jang Hyun-seung wished to have a quiet enlistment. There will be no press release as we will not be revealing the time and location of the enlistment."

On July 24, 2018, the singer officially made it to the military base and began his basic training.

Jang Hyun-seung debuted as part of the boy group BEAST in 2009, under the management of Cube Entertainment. The group released three albums and have successfully released 9 extended plays and various singles. Later on, Jang Hyun-seung collaborated and composed an R&B track with his then co-member Lee Gi-Kwang as part of their group digital album, "My Story."

The singer has also made achievements by doing solo activities. He dropped his first solo debut EP "My" in May of 2015.

Other than BEAST's playlist, Jang Hyun-seung's album tracks have contributed to the hip-hop culture. Tracks such as "Ma First" with Giriboy and "Break Up With Him" with Dok2 were all under his personal preference.


On April 19, 2016, his agency announced that he was departing from BEAST to pursue his solo career. In the same year, Cube Entertainment announced that Jang Hyun-seung would be participating in a dance competition program, "Hit The Stage," which was his first live television appearance after leaving his former group.

In December 13, 2016, Jang Hyun-seung renewed his contract with Cube Entertainment, while his former members left the agency.
