Kang Min Hyuk and Lee Jung Shin had reportedly enlisted themselves on the military on July 31, 2018. They were assigned to serve the Yongin, Gyeonggi Province and the 32nd Infantry Division in Sejong City, respectively.

Their former co-member Lee Jong Hyun left the group in 2019 after being involved in two different controversies.

It was on August 28, when the former member released an official announcement to the public regarding his withdrawal from the group.

"Hello. This is Lee Jong Hyun.

I apologized to all the people I have hurt through my wrong actions and inappropriate words especially to those people whom I have greatly disappointed.

I know it is late but I am formally announcing my withdrawal from CNBLUE. I feel deeply remorseful for causing harm to my co-members and that I have already informed all of them about my withdrawal from the group. I am ashamed and deeply regretful to have disappointed the fans who once believed in me.

Because of our military services, it took me a while before finally announcing this news to the public. I feel sorry and grateful to our management who waited for this.

Know that I am regretful and remorseful over my wrong actions and I am openly accepting criticisms from other people."

Lee Jong Hyun was involved to be exchanging sexual videos of women in a chatroom with Jung Joon Young and sending inappropriate messages to a YouTuber that resulted him to delete his Instagram account.
