Could a new album by BLACKPINK be on the works? BLINKs remain hopeful that the answer is "yes!"
On April 5, BLINKs trended the hashtags #BLACKPINK1YearOfHiatus and #YGWhereIsBLACKPINK, commemorating the one full year of BLACKPINK's last return.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BLACKPINK's widely awaited March return was delayed. Nevertheless, BLINKs pointed out that other YG Entertainment musicians have managed to release a new album and music. iKON released their I Decide earlier this year while WINNER pre-released Hold and is slated to release their new album Remember on April 9.
On April 6, Jennie uploaded two new pictures on her Instagram account. The snapshots were taken in a music studio, which the K-pop star captioned as "studio life."
BLINKs considered this update to be Jennie's attempt to give presumptions regarding their delayed comeback. And according to an individual, Jennie's single smash hit SOLO was carried out after a studio photo was released. Will history repeat itself?
YG Entertainment has been addressed on multiple occasions by BLACKPINK's followers, from the allegations of completely ignoring Rosé to putting it behind the scenes to train their new girl group. This is why when fans found out that the group was to finally return in March, the fandom was in a frenzy.
Alas, the most-awaited comeback didn't turn out as anticipated, and the pandemic is one of the apparent reasons why. However, BLINKs want an explanation from the agency itself before considering any reasons adequate.
Further, they emphasized that the agency launched iKON's comeback and is pushing through WINNER's new album. Besides, fans were also unhappy towards the fact that BLACKPINK proceeded on their tour despite a comeback.
Back in April, the K-pop girl group launched their five-track EP Kill This Love and BLINKs have been waiting eagerly for new songs ever since. Fans took to Twitter to share their frustration after YG Entertainment made an official announcement.
A netizen said on Twitter: "How many instances have BLACKPINK expressed its concerns about their lack of material/comebacks? We've seen them all do it. Jisoo was hoping for comebacks on national television, and Jennie was almost weeping on a live show because she had publicly apologized for it. Avoid behaving as they want it."
Another one wrote, "If Blackpink abandoned YG imagine what strength they'd have. They've got a loyal fan base that only wants to get them the recognition they deserve. 2-3 Comebacks a Year? The milestones they surpass # BLACKPINKLEAVEYG will be horrifying."
YG Entertainment hasn't reacted to BLINKs' complaints ever since the hashtag started trending. At this point, fans' fingers are crossed, hoping that they can see the glow of BLACKPINK's return the soonest in 2020.
