K-pop idols have their fair share of trainee stories that most fans would feel devastated or heartbroken.
Before stardom, BTS members have been sharing their personal experiences of hardships while they were still below the grounds of their careers. J-Hope, for example, astonished the ARMYs when he revealed that there was one moment when he did leave the group and went back to his hometown. However, one guy convinced him to stay, and it totally changed his mind.
Who was this guy? It was none other than his fellow BTS member and the group's maknae Jungkook. J-Hope shared how much he cried and begged him to stay when he felt like it was time for him to retreat from the physically, mentally, and emotionally strenuous activities one pre-debut idol undergoes. It was also those times when Big Hit was a small agency that was also struggling in preparing their talents.
Before entering the company, J-Hope was once a JYP trainee. He then met his co-BTS members who were too young back then. Jungkook, who was originally from Busan, South Korea, was only 15 years old.
In one of their BTS documentaries, the boys were having wine after their successful Brazil concert, while Jungkook was not present due to his treatment. It was also the time when the members recalled their training days. But among those stories, J-Hope's words "I even left the company" stunned the fans.
While he recalled how firm his decision was, everyone else in the scene remembered how Jungkook held his back and cried hard just for him to stay. Although it was not the first time other trainees left, the young man might have found a core reason for his despair, knowing that J-Hope was departing.
Jungkook left Busan at a very young age with the hopes that one day, he will become a famous singer. He recalled how shy he was when he first came to Big Hit. There were times that he had to go shower in the evening to not disturb the others. But when he became closer to his hyung J-Hope, he found a parent who took care of him.
J-Hope became a role model for him in interacting with other members. Knowing that he was leaving BTS, Jungkook must have worried and therefore said, "Please stay Hoseok-hyung." At that point, the older BTS member pursued coming home, yet he was thinking things over. In the end, he finally came back.
He then was asked, "Why he decided to stay?" This is what he answered, "I decided to come back because of the members. Aside from the contract or debut, I had to come back because there were guys in the group who went through everything with me."
Once, J-Hope was ridiculed by antis saying he does not deserve to be part of BTS. The standards of other fans somewhat go beyond what musicians should truly possess. Nonetheless, J-Hope stood the test of time, and many would say that without J-Hope in the group, the boy band will never be the same ever.
