Earlier, YG Entertainment spilled some good news for some of its artists' supporters. In November of 2019, the agency revealed BLACKPINK's expected return, while Rosé confirmed her upcoming solo during an Instagram live stream. However, just like her group's much-awaited return, her solo was also put on hold.
Furthermore, there are more solos from expected artists which were put on halt.
SANDARA PARK
Dara has voiced her intention to launch a solo album on interviews with broadcast magazines, leading fans to demand the agency to support her aspirations.
In 2019, she founded a fixed MC role in "Radio Star," partly operating in the Philippines and hosting MC programs in Korea. Dara began sharing how it wasn't simple for her to request an album from the former CEO Yang Hyun Suk, which is why Henry and actor Joo Sang Wook arranged it for her in the summer of 2017, during an episode of "All Broadcasting in the World."
They contacted Yang Hyun Suk and confronted him directly about why she wasn't releasing an album for ages. Yang Hyun Suk said she hadn't asked him to put out an album, personally. It remains undisclosed if, after that episode, Dara contacted Yang Hyun Suk about a launch of an album.
Meanwhile, the singer was featured in her former bandmate Park Bom's music video in 2019, Spring.
LEE HI
Lee Hi's fans also demanded her solo after she appeared on a live broadcast to share her wish for a solo album.
Back in August 2017, after she participated in "JYP's Party People," fans flooded then CEO Yang Hyun Suk with demands to authorize to roll out new music for her as her last album Seoulite was in 2016.
Lee Hi joined YG Entertainment as a teenager and hit her 20s without an album, she said so herself, weeping on "JYP's Party People" during a performance.
She proceeded to her fan café in June 2018 and spoke to her supporters about the love she had for them and also mentioned some new songs and said that it's not as simple to make a comeback as she believed it would be.
In May of 2019, the singer finally unveiled her EP 24°C. Then, in December of the same year, she left the agency.
AKMU's SUHYUN
Suhyun from AKMU is another talented musician who needs to be mentioned, too. She's been involved as a radio DJ after her brother's military enlistment and made talk show appearances and sang some OSTs, but she never had a solo debut, notwithstanding her incredible talent and calming vocals. She, in fact, talked revealed she was preparing for her solo album in 2019, but until now, nothing came.
She also has a channel on YouTube, which she also updates on.
ONE
Another musician that fans appear to miss is rapper ONE, who was the first solo male artist to debut in YG after 14 years. Shortly after his debut, he began appearing in dramas like "Hwayugi" and "Room 9." He also participated in Song Joong Ki's drama "Arthdal Chronicles" as the young Tagon.
Given his creativity as a rapper, which he exhibited a lot on two seasons of "Show Me The Money," the rap artist has been productive as an actor instead. Following his debut, he only released his single album One Day in 2017.
Then, he decided to depart from YG Entertainment in 2019 after his contract expired. He set up a one-man agency and finally released his solo studio album PRVT01 in November of the same year.
The more YG Entertainment adds, the busier they are to the official roster of their performers, the more it is known that YG Entertainment locks up their artists and does not consistently give them comebacks.
Many shared their disappointment with the method the agency executes, citing the former YG artist Lee Hi as one of the most talented singers who had long remained away from the limelight.
