EXO-Ls expressed their concern after hearing the news that North and South Korean soldiers exchanged gunshots at the Demilitarized Zone where Xiumin is reportedly assigned.
It was stated recently that Xiumin, or Kim Minseok, of EXO is part of the elite force of the South Korean Army. Thus, this report created fear among fans for the safety of the idol. Although it was confirmed that there were no casualties, "minseok" trended on Twitter on Sunday.
Here are some of EXO-Ls who expressed their worries towards the K-pop star.
"Where r those people saying ELSAs and EXO-Ls were overreacting about Minseok being assigned on DMZ??? THIS. IS. WHAT. WE. ARE. WORRYING. ABOUT. It is a relief that there is no casualty. Please, please stay safe, our Xiuldier. :(("
Gunshots have reportedly been fired from North Korea inside the DMZ. [There are] no casualties reported on the South Korea side. This is the unit where our soldier Minseok is assigned. Please keep safe, Minseok."
"Let me remind you all that Minseok is currently working as a DMZ police who guards the borderline between South and North Korea. It is considered one of the most dangerous and difficult jobs for soldiers because of all the tension and risks involved. Stay safe there, Minseok :/"
Xiumin was reportedly one of the DMZ soldiers who underwent intensive training and were carefully chosen to be dispatched in one of the most dangerous locations on the planet. He was lauded for such achievement as it is not easy to become part of the team, though some fans said they would rather see him safe.
According to South Korean news, on Sunday at 7:41 am, North Korean troops fired a number of gunshots at a South Korean guard post along the border of the two countries. This is not the first time that tension has arisen on the said area, but it was confirmed that the North Koreans accidentally fired the said bullets. Thus, South Korea fired back but confirmed that there were no casualties. According to Yonhap News Agency, the said fire shots were "not deemed intentional."
Xiumin is the first EXO member who enlisted as part of being a male citizen of South Korea. SM Entertainment confirmed his enlistment on April 19, 2019. He officially joined the training on March 7, 2019. He is set to be discharged in December this year.
His fellow member D.O. enlisted on July 1, 2019, and is set to finish his duties on January 2021.
Meanwhile, the EXO's leader Suho has confirmed on May 4 that he is enlisting as a public service officer on May 14, and will be discharged on February 13, 2022.
